Hi there! I’m Stefanie - owner & founder of Lighthouse Speech Therapy

Headshot of Stefanie McWilliams, Owner Lighthouse Speech Therapy

Stefanie McWilliams, M.S., CCC-SLP

I am a speech language pathologist and mom of two boys- being a mom is my #1 priority. I am married to my wonderful husband, and while we took a short hiatus from the Mid-west  (We lived in Salt Lake City for 4 years as young married professionals, and enjoyed skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, rock climbing, and hiking! Fun fact- we went heli-skiing in 2022 in Canada- huge bucket list moment!), we knew we wanted to return home. We are both passionate about becoming pillars of support for people in our community - which lead me to creating Lighthouse Speech Therapy, PLLC. I’ve found myself becoming more passionate about early childhood language by watching my own children grow and mature.

After studying Communication Sciences and Disorders at Augustana College, I completed my Masters degree at Eastern Illinois University. While in Utah, I worked in the public school system and earned my English as a Second Language Endorsement. She has specific interest in the areas of Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Speech Sound Disorders, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Early Language Development. She has extensive experience in the educational system, and is passionate about helping children reach their early communication goals. Stefanie holds her ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and is licensed to practice in Illinois.

I started Lighthouse so I could balance being a full-time Mom, while also continuing to use my professional degree. It started in my home office, and quickly grew to renting a space, and now owning that space. While I absolutely love the children and families I get to work with, I found myself exploring a new passion, which is finding other SLPs who want a better work life balance, and finding contract positions or clinic schedules for them that allow freedom in their schedules and ideally support other young professional moms. This business is growing quickly and I could not be more grateful to the families that trust myself and my team to be part of their journey. I am incredibly excited about the future of Lighthouse Speech Therapy, and can’t wait to continue helping children in the Rockton and surrounding areas.

Let me introduce you to the rest of the Lighthouse Team!
